The Perfect Summer Day In Breckenridge, Colorado
Waking up to the mountain glow, I pour a cup of fresh coffee and ponder what to do with my day in Breckenridge, Colorado.
The skies are blue and the air invigorating, along with endless options for the next 24 hours. I could hike one of the many trails, go white water rafting, horseback riding, fly fishing or lounge by the pool. Hmm………
Once the caffeine kicks in I decide to go for a bike ride along the majestic Blue River. Bike rentals are easy to find in Breckenridge, ranging in price around $25-$55/day depending on how long you want to use the bike. Any bike shop you see will get you set up for the path or trail and in no time you’ll be on your way.
After enjoying the miles of breathtaking scenery riding the beautifully maintained bike path and a quick shower, I have worked up a hunger and am ready for lunch. Not willing to part myself from the warmth of the sunshine, I head over to Kenosha Steakhouse with my friends and find a great table on their large deck.
As the local crew plays horseshoes in the pits next to the deck, I enjoy one of their many craft beers available on tap and soak in the mountain surroundings. At this moment in time with the music playing and the sun shining, I find it hard to believe there is anything better than this. The pulled pork sandwich is now one of my favorites, and I’m wondering how I can possibly replicate it for future enjoyment.
After spending hours laughing and saturating ourselves in the ambiance (hey, I never said this would be a day completely packed with activities), we decide to make our way down adorable Main Street, stopping for a dessert crepe at the Crepes Al A Cart food cart. So many great stores to peak in and check out along the way. Finding unique treasures all along and loving the relaxed vibe that Breckenridge offers, my worries are miles away.
Coming across the gondola we take a free scenic ten minute ride to the base of peak 8 where things are bustling at the Fun Park. Mini golf, trampolines, roller coasters and more. Parents watch while the kids run around with excitement. We people watch for awhile and head back down the gondola to town.
All this relaxing, it’s time for a coffee. Did you know that the Starbucks in Breckenridge is one of the “Coolest Starbucks” in the country? With a view of the ski slopes, of course, this quaint, historic house provides caffeine and coolness.
The evening events included hanging out with some locals for a round of pool at Brooklyn’s Tavern and Billiards, followed by a few other stops at one of the 30+ bars on main street before calling it a night. All in all, this day was the perfect mixture of activities and relaxation experiencing Breckenridge.
Whatever your travel style is, a summer trip to Colorado can meet and exceed those expectations.
Be it activities, education and relaxation, there is something for everyone in the Rocky Mountain sunshine.
